Learning How to Install a Fan
Okay, so not a “necessary” ranch post — but it is on the ranch house, so it qualifies.
There are three fans under the porch and they were in terrible condition. Not even posting a before picture for that.
As stories and updates go, this one is important to me. Part of why I wanted to buy the ranch was to give our daughters the opportunity to learn real skills. So here was an opportunity.
Wife said get the electrician to install. We could have… but we go by our motto out here: no one is coming to save us. Sometimes you get help, but sometimes you just get in there and do it.
So I took the opportunity to teach my older daughter Mackenzie how to install a fan. We got all three in, and on the last one Mackenzie did it all by herself (except the wires that I connected for safety).
Either way, she got it done and I’m proud of her — so posting this.
Moral of the story: Give it a go if you feel safe. You might learn something — and hopefully not burn the ranch house down.
